Hey, I’m Lisa…
I am a software UX designer—I have been working in UX design since 2011, and B2B software design since 2014, and in cybersecurity since 2019. My goal as a designer is to make the world, and particularly the internet, a better, safer, and more accessible place.
My Career
I love to tackle complex problems rooted in big data and highly technical industries. I delve deep into the problem and explore what the human users need, what the data means, and determine the best way to present that data for each human involved. Prior to working in cybersecurity, I worked consulting, where I gained experience several different technical industries:
Legal
Oil & Gas Fortune 500 corporation
Federal Government—Biology & Conservation
State Government—Health and Human Services, and Early Intervention
Medical—Medical Device, Urgent Care, Physician Offices
Finance
Telecommunications
Food Manufacturing/Co-Packing
Outdoor Industry Retail
Real Estate/Property Management
My career has led me to explore many layers of computation, from the anatomy of workstations and servers, to network and database infrastructure. I love to figure out how things work at their core, and this makes me a powerful designer and ally to the engineers who make my designs come to life.
Education
In 2012 I graduated with honors, earning my Bachelor degree in Industrial Design from the University of Kansas, with a Concentration in Writing and a Minor in Art History. As part of my UX-focused curriculum, I took courses in Human Factors, Methods in Design, Design Research, and Interaction Design Simulations and Scenarios. Before completing my degree, I began my career in digital product and interaction design.
Outside of Work…
I hail from Arvada, Colorado where I enjoy going on mountain adventures with my rescue chihuahua (Frances), landscape painting and photography, and reading mystery novels.
